G.S.R. 686(E): - In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (d) and clause (e) of sub-section (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11 of 2011), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

  1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called "The coinage of Twenty Rupees and Five Rupees Coins to Commemorate the Occasion of "125thBirth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad", Rules, 2013.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. (1) The Coins of the following denominations shall be coined at the Mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government to commemorate the occasion of "125thBirth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad" namely:-

(i) Twenty Rupees;

(ii) Five Rupees.

(2) The coins of the above denominations shall conform to the following dimensions, designs and composition, namely:-

Obverse

The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend ^^lR;eso t;rs** inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word ^^Hkkjr** in Devnagri script and on the right periphery flanked with the word "India" in English. It shall also bear the rupee symbol "" and denominational value "20" in International numerals below the Lion Capital.

Reverse

The face of the coin shall bear the picture of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in the centre, with the inscription ^^ekSykuk vcqy dyke vktkn** in Devnagri script on the left upper periphery. ^^125oha t;arh** on the left lower periphery and "Maulana Abul Kalam Azad" in English on the right upper periphery. "125 Birth Anniversary" on the right lower periphery. The year "1888-1958" shall be inscribed below the picture of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

  1. Five Rupees

Obverse

The face of the coin shall bear the picture of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad in the centre, with the inscription ^^ekSykuk vcqy dyke vktkn** in Devnagri script on the left upper periphery. ^^125oha t;arh** on the left lower periphery and "Maulana Abul Kalam Azad" in English on the right upper periphery. "125 Birth Anniversary" on the right lower periphery. The year "1888-1958" shall be inscribed below the picture of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

  1. Standard weight and remedy allowed.- The standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined to commemorate the occasion of "125thBirth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad" and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the following Table, namely:-

Five Rupees 6 grams 1/100th plus or minus for Coper and Zinc, that is to say, Coper could vary from 74 percent to 76 percent and Zinc from 19 percent to 21 percent and 1/200th plus or minus for Nickel that is to say, Nickel could vary from 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent. 1/40th plus or minus that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.85 grams to 6.15 grams.
