An Act to change the names of Universities of Saugar, Jabalpur and Indore.

Be it enacted by the Madhya Pradesh Legislature in the Thirty-third year of the Republic of India as follows :-

  1. Short title.- This Act may be called the Saugar, Jabalpur, Aur Indore Vishwavidyalaya (Nam Parivartan) Adhiniyam, 1982.
  2. Change of name of university of Saugar, Jabalpur and Indore.- On and after the commencement of this Act, the Universities mentioned in column (1) of the table below shall be known by the names specified in the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof.

The University of Saugar Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar.
The University of Jabalpur Rani Durgavali Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur.
The University of Indore Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore.

and any reference to the University of Saugar, the University of Jabalpur or the University of Indore, as the case may be, in any enactment for the time being in force or anything made or any rule, order, notification, bye-laws, statute, ordinance or in any indenture, instrument or other document shall be construed as a reference to the name of the respective University as shown in column (2) of the said table.

  1. Amendment of Second Schedule of Act No. 22 of 1973.- In column (1) of the Second Schedule to the Madhya Pradesh Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 1973 (No. 22 of 1973) :

(i) for the words "the University of Saugar", the words "Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar";

(ii) for the words "the University of Jabalpur", the words "Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur"; and

(iii) for the words "The University of Indore", the words "Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore"

shall respectively be substituted.
