Installation of Telephones Rules

  1. Definition.- For the purposes of these rulesĀ "the Act"means the Madhya Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1961 (No. 37 of 1961).
  2. Installation of telephones at Municipal Office and Fire Brigade Station.- A Council may instal telephones at the Municipal Office and at Fire Brigade Station maintained by the Council;

Provided that no such telephone shall be installed if there is no provision for it in the budget.

  1. Installation of telephones at other places.- A Council may, subject to the budget provisions for the purpose of efficient discharge of tiny of the duties imposed upon it by or under the Act, by resolution passed in that behalf instal or cause to be installed a telephone at the expense of the Council at-

(i) the residence of the President, Chief Municipal Officer, Health Officer, Engineer or Chairman of the Standing Committee, with the previous approval of the Collector; and

(ii) any other place, with previous approval of the Commissioner :

Provided that no telephone shall be installed at the residence of any Councillor.

  1. Rules shall be general.- These rules shall be general for all Municipalities.
