G.S.R. 66(E). - Whereas draft of the Cochin Harbour Crafts (Amendment) Rules, 2003 were published as required by clause by Sub-section (2) of the Section 6 of the Indian Ports Act, 1908, under the notification of Government of India in the Ministry of Shipping (Ports Wing), vide G.S.R. No. 729(E) dated 9th September, 2003 in the Gazette of India (Extraordinary) Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i) inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby before the expiry of a period of 45 days from the date of publications of the notification in the Official Gazette;

And whereas the copies of the said Gazette were made available to the public on the 10th September, 2003;

And whereas no objections or suggestions have been received from the public within the period aforesaid;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (k) of Sub-section (1) of Section 6 of the said Act, the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

  1. (i) These Rules may be called the Cochin Harbour Craft (Amendment) Rules, 2004.

(ii) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. In pursuance of Rules 29 of the Cochin Harbour Craft Rules 1947, Govt. of India vide Notification No. 19-P (13) 40 dated 15-03-1950, prescribed the following:-

(a) Regulation for grant of Certificate of Competency of Masters and Syrangs of mechanically propelled craft plying in the Port of Cochin.

(b) Regulation of grant of Certificates of Competency to Engineers and Engine Drivers of mechanically propelled Craft plying in the Port of Cochin.

(i) Section 35 of the Regulation (1) stated above be substituted by the following:-

“35. The fees are as follows :-
First Class Master's Certificate Rs. 200
Second Class Master's Certificate Rs. 150
Syrang's Certificate Rs. 100”

(ii) Section 65 of the Regulation (b) stated above be substituted by the following:-

“65. The fees are as follows :-
Second Class Engine Drivers or Second Class Motor Engine Driver's Certificate Rs. 100
First Class Engine Drivers or First Class Motor Engine Driver's Certificate Rs. 150
Engineers or Motor Engineer's Certificate
