Names Of Doordarshan Channels to be Re-Transmitted by the Cable Operators in Their Cable Services'

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) read with sub-section (1) of section 8 of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 (7 of 1995), the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) hereby specifies the number and names of Doordarshan channels to be re-transmitted by the cable operators in their cable service' and the manner of reception and re-transmission of such channels, namely- 1. Every cable operator shall - (i) receiver and re-transmit the following Doordarshan channels in his cable service in the prime band on channels other than those carrying terrestrial broadcast frequencies, (a) DD-I (National Channel);
(b) DD-II (Metro Channel);2
[(c) regional language channel of the State/Union Territory in which the cable operator is located or the DD Bharati Channel as specified in the Schedule;]
(ii) take only satellite signals preferably digital signals of Doordarshan channels for re-transmission on their cable service by dish antenna /Television Receiver Only of not less than 12 feet diameter dish, and not Yagi antenna to ensure good quality reception; (iii) not transmit any channel on the cable service in the same frequency band in which Doordarshan terrestrial channels are transmitted; (iv) use standard equipment to ensure good quality reception of Doordarshan channels tipto tail-end subscribers comparable with other satellite channels. Explanation.-For the purpose of this notification, the expression "prime band" constitutes frequencies relating to channels fallin in the Band I (Channels 2 to 4 ranging from 47 to 68 MHz) and Band III ((Channels 5 to 12 ranging from 174 to 230 MHz).
