S.O. 47(E), dated 8th January, 2008. - Whereas, the Central Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 27 of the Insecticides Act, 1968 (46 of 1968), published a draft order to withdraw the use of Metoxuron vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Agriculture (Department of Agriculture and Cooperation), Number S.O. 1689(E), dated the 1st October, 2007 for inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby before the expiry of a period of forty-five days from the date on which copies of the Official Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public; And whereas, copies of the said Gazette were made available to the public on the 1st day of October, 2007; And whereas, no objections and suggestions were received from the public in respect of the said draft order :

Now, therefore, exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 28 of the Insecticides Act, 1968 (46 of 1968), the Central Government hereby makes the following order, namely :-

  1. (1) This order may be called the Withdrawal of Metoxuron Order, 2007.

(2) It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

(3) The Registration Committee shall call back the certificates of registration granted for Metoxuron from all registrants including new registrants.

(4) If any person who holds the certificate of registration fails to return the certificate to the Registration Committee, referred to in clause (3), within a period of six months action shall be taken under Section 14 of the said Act.

  1. Every State Government shall take all such steps under the provisions of the, aid Act and the rules and thereunder, as it considers necessary for the execution of this order in the State.
