G.S.R. 100(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 21, read with Section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely :-

  1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of the Seventy Five Rupees, Ten Rupees, Five Rupees, Two Rupees and One Rupee coined on the occasion of "Platinum Jubilee of Reserve Bank of India" Rules, 2010.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. Standard weight and remedy allowed.- Standard weight and remedy allowed on coins of Rs. 75, Rs. 10, Rs. 5, Rs. 2 and Re. 1 denominations, under the provisions of Section 6 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906) to commemorate the occasion of "Platinum Jubilee of Reserve Bank of India" and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below, namely :-

75 Rupees 35 Grams 1/500th plus or minus for Silver, that is to say, the Silver content may very from 498 to 502 per 1000. 1/100th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 34.65 grams to 35.35 grams.
Ten Rupees 7.71 Grams (Outer Ring 4.45 gms and center piece 3.26gms) Outer Ring (Aluminium Bronze) Aluminum - 5.5% to 6% Nickel- 1.75% to 2% and remainder are Copper. Center Piece (cupro-Nickel) Plus or minus 1% for both Copper and Nickel, that is to say, the Copper may vary from 74% to 76% and Nickel from 24% to 26%. Plus or minus 2.5% that is to say, weight could vary from 7.52 grams to 7.90 grams.
5 Rupees 6 Grams 1/100th plus or minus for Copper and Zinc, that is to say, Copper could vary from 74% to 76% and Zinc from 19% to 21% and 1/200th plus or minus for Nickel, that is to say, Nickel could vary from 4.5% to 5.5%. 1/40th plus or minus that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.85 to 6.15 grams.
2 Rupees (mono-metallic) 5.62 Grams Plus or minus 1% for Chromium that is to say, Chromium could vary from 16% to 18% and remainder Iron Plus or minus 4% that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.39 to 5.84 grams.
1 Rupee (mono-metallic) 4.85 Grams Plus or minus, 1% for Chromium that is to say, Chromium could vary from 16% to 18% and remainder Iron. Plus or minus 4% that is to say, the weight could vary from 4.62 to 5.08 grams.
