NOTIFICATION

G.S.R. 94(E), New Delhi, the 15th February, 2011.-In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 21, read with section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government here by makes the following rules, namely :-­

  1. Short title and commencement---(1) These rules may be called the Coinage of the One Hundred Fifty Rupees and Five Rupees coined to Commemorate the occasion of "INCOME TAX-150 YEARS OF BUILDING INDIA" Rules, 2011.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. Standard weight and remedy allowed.-Standard weight and remedy allowed on coins of One Hundred Fifty Rupees and Five Rupees denomination, under the provision of section 6 of the Coinage Act ( 3 of 1906), to commemorate the occasion of "INCOME TAX-150 YEARS OF BUILDING INDIA", and the remedy allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below:

One Hundred Fifty Rupees 35 Grams 1/500th plus or minus for Silver, that is to say, the Silver content may vary from 498 to 502 per 1000. 1/100 plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 34.65 grams to 35.35 grams.
Five Rupees 6 Grams 1/100 plus of minus for Copper and Zinc that is to say copper could vary from 74% to 76% and Zinc from 19% to 21% and 1/200thplus or minus for nickel that is to say could vary from 4.5% to 5.5% 1/400th plus or minus, that is to say, the weight could vary from 5.85 grams to 6.15 grams.
