G.S.R. 38(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 21, read with Section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

  1. Short title and Commencement.- (i) These rules may be called the Coinage of Nickel-Brass Coin of Rupees Five coined with the theme "Ashoka Pillar" Rules, 2009.

(ii) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. Definition.- In these rules, "Act" means the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906).
  2. Standard Weight and Remedy allowed on coins of denomination of Rs. 5 coined with the theme "Ashoka Pillar".- The Standard weight of the Nickel-Brass coins of Rs.5 denomination, coined under the provisions of Section 6 of the Act, and here may be allowed in making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below:-
