G.S.R. 579(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 21, read with Section 7 of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely :-

  1. Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage of Bi-Metallic Coin of Rupees Ten coined with the theme "Unity in Diversity" Rules, 2005.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

  1. Definition.- In these rules, "Act" means the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906).
  2. Standard Weight and Remedy allowed on coins of certain denomination coined with the theme "Unity in Diversity".- The standard weight of the Bi-metallic coin of the Rupees Ten denomination, coined under the provisions of Section 6 of the Act and the remedy allowed in making such coin shall be as specified in the Table below :-

Plus or minus 2.5% that is to say, the weight could vary from 7.52 grams to 7.90 grams.
