G.S.R. 587(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 21, read with Section 7, of the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely :-
- Short title and commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Coinage (Standard Weight and Remedy of Commemorative Coins of Rupees One Hundred (Containing Silver 50%, Copper 40%, Nickel 5% and Zinc 5%) and Rupees Five (Containing Copper 75% and Nickel 25%) coined in the memory of "Bhagwan Mahavir" Rules, 2001.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
- Definition.- In these rules, "Act" means the Coinage Act, 1906 (3 of 1906).
- Standard weight and remedy allowed on coins of certain denominations, coined in the memory of "Bhagwan Mahavir".- The Standard weight of the coins of the following denominations, coined under the provisions of Section 6 of the Act, in the memory of "Bhagwan Mahavir" and the remedy allowed in the making of such coins shall be as specified in the Table below :-
