Received the assent of the President of India on February 6, 1964, and was published in the Punjab Gazette, (Extra), Legislative Supplement, Part I, dated February 14, 1964/Magha 25, 1885 Saka.

An act to amend the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, in its application to the State of Punjab.

Be it enacted by the Legislative of the State of Punjab in the Fifteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

  1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Payment of Wages (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1964.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April, 1963.

Notes :- The Act is enacted to neutralise the effects of the amendments made in Section 6 of the principal Act from the day the persons become liable to compulsory deposit under the Compulsory Deposit Scheme Act, 1963.

  1. Amendment of Section 6 of Central Act IV of 1936.- In section 6 of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, in its application to the State of Punjab, as amended by the Payment of Wages (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1962, the whole of the Proviso and Explanation shall be omitted.
