Received the assent of the President of India on the 10th January, 1961 and was first published in the Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 18th January, 1961.An Act to amend the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948, in its application to the State of Punjab.Be it enacted by the Legislature of Punjab in the Eleventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:-1. Short title and Commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Electricity (Supply) (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1961.(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 16th day of April, 1959.

Statement of Objects and Reasons. - Explanation below section 27-A of Electricity Supply Act, 1948, inserted by Punjab Act No. 9 of 1959, defines 'Common Pool Works'. Since the works defined under Explanation No. (v) below section 27-A i.e. 'Single Circuit 132 K.V. Transmission Line between Ludhiana and Jullundur including the connected Grid sub-station at Jullundur' serve only the Punjab State and do not serve any common Pool consumer, their mention in Explanation No. (v) need deletion and hence this Bill."vide Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 7th November, 1960, p. 2118. |
2. Amendment of section 27-A of Central Act LIV of 1941. - In the Explanation to section 27-A of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1948, in its application to the State of Punjab, item (v) shall be deleted and items (vi), (vii) shall be renumbered as items (v), (vi) and (viii), respectively.
