G.S.R. 242(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 64 of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 (52 of 1984), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, namely:- 1. Short title and commencement. - (1) These rules may be called the Indian Veterinary Council (Procedure for nomination of one member by the Central Government from amongst the Presidents of the State Veterinary Associations) Rules, 2017. (2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Definitions. - (1) In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) 'Act' means the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984 (52 of 1984);
(b) "State Veterinary Associations" means the Veterinary Associations of the State recognized by the State Governments in accordance with the provisions followed by the States for recognition of Associations;
(c) 'Council' means the Veterinary Council of India established under section 3 of the Act;
(d) "member" means member of the Council;
3. Criteria for nomination of a member under clause (i) of sub-section (3) of section 3 of the Act. - No President of the State Veterinary Association shall be nominated by the Central Government as a member to the Council, unless the State Veterinary Association is recognized by the concerned State Government.
