An Act to provide for the better discipline of police officers enrolled in Military Police Battalions.
WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the better discipline of police officers enrolls local Acts in Military Police or Rifle Battalions; It is hereby enacted as follows :-

This Act has been extended to the new provinces and merged States by the Merged States (Laws) Act, 1 1949), section 3(1-1-1950) and to the States of Manipur, Tripura and Vindhya Pradesh by the Union (Laws) Act, 1950 (30 of 1950) section 3 (16-4-1950). Manipur and Tripura are fullfledged States no 81 of 1971).
1. Short title
This Act may be called The Indian Rifles Act, 1920.
2. Police Officers subject to discipline and penalties prescribed in local Acts serving
All police officers enrolled under the provisions of any local Military Police or Rifles Act shall be subject to the discipline and penalties prescribed by such Act, wherever serving in India.
