IntroductionEIL Company was incorporated in New Delhi on March 15, 1965 under the Companies Act as a private limited company under the name `Engineers India Private Limited¿ in accordance with a formation agreement dated November 20,1964 and a memorandum of agreement dated June 27, 1964 between the Government of India (GoI) and Bechtel International Corporation (BIC).

Thereafter, the memorandum of agreement, the formation agreement and a subsequent technical services agreement entered into by our Company and Bechtel Overseas Corporation (BOC) were terminated by mutual consent in accordance with an agreement between the Government of India, BIC and BOC in May 1967.

In accordance with the terms of this agreement Company also entered into separate agreements for mutual release in June 1967 with BOC and BIC whereby the parties mutually agreed to forever discharge and release the other party and its officers, employees from all liabilities, obligations and duties under the terminated agreements.

In May 1967, it  became a wholly-owned GoI enterprise. In 1996, the GoI dis-invested approximately 6.0% of its shareholding in our Company and we became a public listed company.

Engineers India Ltd (EIL) is a leading global engineering consultancy and EPC company. Established in 1965, EIL provides engineering consultancy and EPC services principally focused on the oil & gas and petrochemical industries. The Company has also diversified into sectors like infrastructure, water and waste management, solar & nuclear power and fertilizers to leverage its strong technical competencies and track record.

Today, EIL is a ‘Total Solutions’ engineering consultancy company providing design, engineering, procurement, construction and integrated project management services from ‘Concept to Commissioning’ with highest quality and safety standards. EIL’s QMS, OHSMS and EMS are certified to ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 respectively. It also provides specialist services such as heat and mass transfer equipment design, environmental engineering, specialist materials and maintenance and plant operations and safety services.

With corporate office in New Delhi, EIL also operates from its office in Gurugram, branch office in Mumbai, three regional engineering offices in Kolkata, Chennai & Vadodara and has inspection offices at all major manufacturing locations of the country. The company’s overseas presence is marked by an engineering office in Abu Dhabi, which caters to the business needs in UAE/Middle-East region. Additionally, there are offices in London, Milan and Shanghai to coordinate the activities of international procurement and marketing.

EIL’s technological excellence is driven by 2387 engineers & professionals in a competent employee base of 2939 employees as on March 31, 2017. The availability of technical resources per annum is about 5.6 million man-hours  in  EIL’s design offices  along with  9600  Man-months  of construction management services.

Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures

EIL has a wholly owned subsidiary, Certification Engineers International Limited (CEIL), which provides services in the field of certification, re-certification, third party inspection services.

The Company has also established a Joint Venture viz, Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) with National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) and Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCIL) for revival of Ramagundam Fertilizer Plant.

Some milestone projects executed by EIL include world's longest deck on single jacket for SHG Platform of ONGC, Jamnagar-Loni Pipeline of GAIL, one of the largest LPG pipelines in the world and 9 MMTPA Guru Gobind Singh Refinery of HMEL, the 10th Grassroot refinery designed and engineered by EIL which has also set various industry benchmarks in terms of project execution.

Research & Development

EIL is a technology driven organization which believes that investment in technology is imperative for maintaining its leadership position. EIL has established a sophisticated research and development center in Gurgaon and the R&D division is pursuing technology development both in-house and in collaboration with other organizations like IOCL-R&D, BPCL-R&D, IIP, CHT, HPCL, CPCL, NRL etc.

EIL has developed more than 30 process technologies and its portfolio includes various technologies for petroleum refining, oil and gas processing and aromatics. The DHDT Technology developed by EIL and IOCL-R&D has been implemented for the first time in the country at IOCL's Bongaigaon Refinery. EIL currently holds 18 live patents and has 17 pending patent applications relating to various process technologies.

Looking Ahead

Leveraging its engineering consultancy, EPC capabilities and successful track record, EIL has diversified into high potential sectors of Infrastructure, Water & Waste Management, Solar & Nuclear power and Fertilizer.  The diversification efforts have yielded encouraging results and the Company, apart from securing two exploration blocks under NELP-IX, has executed breakthrough jobs in these segments for NPCIL, GAIL, DJB, Reliance ADAG/Areva, Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) etc. Some of the pathbreaking projects include laying of Interceptor Sewers for abatement of pollution along river Yamuna for Delhi Jal Board which has found place among top 100 innovative infrastructure projects and 125 MW Solar Thermal Power project for Reliance ADAG/Areva, the largest solar thermal power project in India.

The Company's fertilizer initiative has got a significant impetus with the signing of JV agreement with National Fertilizers Limited and Fertilizer Corporation of India for revival of Ramagundam Fertilizer plant in Telangana. In this sector, EIL has also achieved considerable success in overseas markets, with the Company currently providing services for 4 major fertilizer plants in Indonesia, Nigeria and Bangladesh.

International Footprints

EIL has leveraged its strong track record to successfully expand its operations internationally. The Company has earned recognition for jobs executed in several countries of Middle East, North Africa and South East Asia including Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE etc. Most of the major oil & gas companies in these regions like Sonatrach, GASCO, ADCO, ZADCO, KNPC, BAPCO, BANAGAS etc. have utilized EIL’s services for their prestigious projects. A recent prominent milestone in the Company’s global market strategy is the award of PMC services for 20 MMTPA Refinery and 600,000 TPA Polypropylene plant by M/s Dangote Oil Refining Company in Nigeria. With a contract value of $139 Million, this is the single largest consultancy order received by the Company. EIL has also secured breakthrough jobs in Oman, Kenya, Nigeria, Bangladesh & Indonesia.

Therefore, being a knowledge-based company, EIL has always been sensitive towards the concerns of society and is committed to operating its core business in a socially responsible way by taking into consideration the wider interests of the community and the environment.

The CSR mission of EIL have been guided by two elemental ideations, namely, the philosophy of enhancing the educational, health and environmental environs of the society and towards supplementing/supporting the ongoing and planned initiatives of the local, state or central government with projects / programs being located in and around its work places which includes project sites, regional and branch offices and the headquarters in New Delhi. The activities so undertaken are in consonance and consultation with State Governments, district administration, local administration as well as Central Government departments/agencies, Self-Help Groups, etc.

CSR InitiativesCORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Education: EIL supported educational programmes for providing basic formal education to 60 children belonging to underprivileged segment of society in Delhi/NCR and informal education for around 300 migrant children engaged at construction sites in Gurugram, Haryana. For imparting computer literacy amongst children from underdeveloped areas in Delhi/NCR, a project titled ‘Computer Literacy to 136 Underprivileged Children’ was supported. Other major CSR activities in this area include construction of compound wall at Municipal Primary School, Kasi Koil Kuppam, Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu and support to Nirmithi Kendra for construction of Government School Building in Kabennur, Dharwad, Karnataka.
Health Care: Significant initiatives in the health care sector include support towards installation of medical equipment for project on ‘Breaking the barriers of poverty through reduction of disease burden’ for underprivileged people in slums of Delhi and providing Mobile Medical Care Units for affording health care services in villages of Odisha.
Drinking Water/Sanitation: EIL supported the construction/ maintenance of sanitation facilities in schools of Assam, Bihar, Odisha and Tamil Nadu under Swachh Vidyalaya Project. The Company also supported installation of RO plants at 6 locations of Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh and construction of 20 RO Plants in Dharwad District, Karnataka.
Rural Electrification: EIL supported installation of more than 100 Solar Photovoltaic based LED Street Lighting Systems each in Bhadohi and Shrawasti Districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Women Empowerment: Conducted a functional literacy programme for economic empowerment of 120 tribal women of Bolangir District, Odisha as well as skill training programme for 49 women inmates of District Jail, Gautam Budh Nagar at Kasna, Greater Noida in Tailoring, Dress Making and Beautician trades.
Upliftment of underprivileged: CSR activities aimed at upliftment of underprivileged sections of society include support for construction of first floor of ‘NAB Home for the Aged Blind’ at Dwarka, installation of Solar PV Plant at Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, New Delhi and distribution of adult diapers among bedridden and elderly patients residing across 30 slum areas of Delhi. The Company also conducted camps for distribution of assistive aids and appliances to poor & needy Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at Bhubaneswar, Bolangir, Paradeep Districts of Odisha & Dibrugarh District of Assam while another ten camps are envisaged to be organized across EIL’s areas of operation. Another initiative in this area was support for establishment of Vivekananda Centre for yoga, naturopathy and research at Delhi which is under progress.
Community Development: Construction of RCC retaining wall / road side drains / Compound wall at Yanam.
Vocational Training/Skill Centres: EIL supported training for employment generation and skill development of 55 candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC and BPL categories at Bharuch, Gujarat. The Company also  supported skill development training to 1600 candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC Women and EWS of society in Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. Similar training programmes were organized for 300 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in Assam, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. EIL also supported the establishment of Skill Development Institutes at Kochi and Visakhapatnam.
