October 10,2017:

Liquor bottles were seized during various raids from 2009 onwards.

On Saturday, it was a field day for some tipplers in Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu after they a found a large cache of the liquor bottles lying unguarded at Old Court premises in town.

Liquor bottles had been reportedly kept there to be presented at Court as the evidence in the liquor smuggling cases.

Incident came to notice on Saturday afternoon when some unidentified persons entered old court premises and started taking away bottles.

Seeing this, more persons entered the scene, creating flutter at premises.

But the enthusiasm didn’t last for long as the Tindivanam Police got information about incident and rushed to the spot only to find panicked tipplers fleeing left and right. While some of the fortunate men managed to escape with the bottles while some were less fortunate as they had to abandon their bounty and run away.

Even though Police couldn’t catch anyone in connection with this incident, they have arranged protection at spot and are inquiring about this incident without registering a case as no complaint has been received till Sunday evening.

Seven Courts, including District Munsif Court and Judicial Magistrate Court had been functioning in the 100-year-old building complex in Tindivanam.

Due to the space constraints the new integrated court complex was built at Jagampettai on side of Chenni-Tiruchy highway and all Courts were shifted there recently.

However, liquor bottles, seized during the various raids from 2009 onwards, were yet to be shifted to new complex.

It is learnt that some persons came to know about unguarded liquor and had been stealing them at the night time. This incident wouldn’t have come to light if it continued to happen at the night.
