September 12,2018:
Bollywood Actress Swara Bhaskar has been slapped with Legal Notice for making defamatory statement against BJP stating that, "Those who celebrated Mahatma Gandhi's assassination are in power today".
Advocate Abhishek Raskar has sent the Legal Notice on behalf of a BJP member and Advocate Pradip H. Gavde.
The Legal Notice states that,"Actress has made the aforementioned false and baseless imputations against BJP to garner cheap publicity in order to remain in public eye. It further stated that the statement has been made to bring disrepute to and cause defamation of the ruling party and its members and activists in person".
The Notice further states that,"Attributing the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi who is the Father of the Nation, to the BJP, by stating in clear terms that the ruling party and its members celebrated his death is a clear and conscious attempt to malign the image of the BJP and its countless members.
"It only seems that the actress has concocted this false narrative so as to politically and socially malign and defame BJP and its crores and crores of members and Karyakartas working across the nation and abroad" it stated.
The Legal Notice has asked Actress to:
a) Withdraw the defamatory statements made by her against BJP while addressing the press at an event organized by the Indian Women's Press Corps in New Delhi.
b) Tender an unconditional written apology.
Aggrieved party has demanded a retraction of her defamatory remarks and a written apology within 15 days and upon failure to do so the counsel for the aggrieved will institute a civil as well as criminal proceedings against her.
