In order to curb malpractices during written examination & interview for govt. jobs, the Supreme Court has asked the Centre to consider installing of CCTV at centres for written examination & interview.

On Friday, the Supreme Court favored videography of the selection process conducted for the public posts, especially by state public service commissions & state selection boards, to maintain "purity" of the entire exercise.

“We're of the view that for the purity of selection to the public posts, it's desirable that as far as possible the selection process conducted by the selection bodies, especially the State Public Service Commissions & the State Selection Boards, is videographed. It's desirable that at examination centres as well as interview centres CCTV cameras are installed to the extent viable. Footage thereof may be seen by an independent committee of 3 members & report of such committee may be placed on the website concerned,” a bench of Justice A K Goel & Justice R F Nariman said.

SC passed the order while hearing a plea alleging serious irregularities in selection process of appointment of assistant teachers in govt. lower primary schools in Meghalalya. The top court noted that such incidents are being reported in several cases & it's necessary to install CCTV camera at centres to curb such illegality.

“The Registry is directed to send a copy of this order to Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, for being forwarded to the concerned authorities for compliance,” it said.
