On Monday, Patiala house court has dismissed senior Congress leader Motilal Vohra’s petition seeking to restrain BJP leader Subramanian Swamy from tweeting about the National Herald case.
This is a huge setback to the Congress as the party the authorities have so far decided infavourably against them in the case.
The Haryana Governor on Nov 15 gave sanction to prosecute former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda in the case and the Delhi High Court has refused to issue a stay on the Herald House eviction notice.
The party is also heading up to state elections this year & 2019 Lok Sabha poll preparations.
Swamy has also said that he would be asking for day-to-day hearing on the case.
He tweeted, "From Feb 1st I will ask for day to day hearing in NH case. Next date is Jan 11 for my cross examination."
Swamy had also recorded a statement on August 25 before a Delhi Court in connection with the case. He had told the Court that he needed to tweet in order to inform his followers about the case.
The BJP leader had filed the National Herald case on Nov 1, 2012 against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi & four others including Vohra alleging land grab on the pretext of printing National Herald in several part of the country.
The Congress party have denied the allegation.
He has also alleged that the Gandhis and others he has mentioned in the case have committed a fraud of ₹ 16 billion by acquiring a public limited company Associated Journals Limited (AJL) from Young Indian, and received land and publication rights of the paper.
