June 23, 2018:

District Judge from Bihar has placed his Law Graduate daughter under house arrest to prevent her from meeting her Boyfriend.

According to Media Reports, District Judge and his wife even went so far as to physically assault their daughter, while her lover was left to listen to her cries over the phone.

District and Sessions Judge from Khagaria District appears to be at odds with a bond formed between his daughter 24-year-old and 25-year-old Lawyer based in  New Delhi.

His Daughter is a  Law Graduate of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna.

The Delhi based Lawyer practices at Supreme Court, graduated from the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. They first met in 2012 at Saket Court complex while she was interning with an NGO.

Judge's Daughter was due to take her Delhi Judicial Services Exam on May 6. But, after her mother saw the them interacting the day before, she was not allowed to write the exam because her mother was apprehensive that she would meet Boyfriend again.

Going by the report, the brief meeting between the two appears to have snowballed into a torturous affair for the young couple.

The Delhi based Lawyer approached National Commission for Women (NCW) on her behalf, there was little that could be done with her being under house arrest. Police Authorities also failed to act. While some were not inclined to help at all, others informed Siddharth that Yashaswini refused to give her statement.

On June 1, Advocate Siddarth Bansal filed a Habeas Corpus petition in Supreme Court to present Judge's Daughter Yashaswini, rescue her and record her statement.

Supreme Court rejected his petition stating that they “cannot give him the girl’s custody”.

Advocate Bansal claimed that on May 26, a protection officer visited Yashaswini at her Bihar residence. The officer asked her to take her complaint back.

He further states that,“On June 9, her father took her to Lucknow for All India Bar Examination. It was an attempt by him to highlight that he has not confined his daughter”.

Advocate Bansal states that,“On June 2, she e-mailed Home Minister Rajnath Singh. On June 4, she wrote to Union Minister Maneka Gandhi too. She also narrated her grievance to NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma, Bihar DGP KS Dwivedi and Bihar State Women’s Commission member Savita Natrajan in separate e-mails. But, nobody came forward to help her and take her out from the illegal confinement of her parents”.
