February 13,2018:
After returning from the break, Justice Chandrachud thanked the Advocates representing parties in the case for being “so accommodative”.
During the Judge Loya's Death case hearing, Justice Chandrachud who is part 3 Judge Bench which is headed by CJI Dipak Misra while getting up for a Break , pointed out to the lawyers that,“You are lucky, you can go on a coffee break but we cannot".
It was a packed Courtroom with large number of lawyers related to the matter, others Advocates and the media present, as the Bench suddenly stood for the break, it left the advocates and media amused.
While getting up, Justice Chandrachud added that,“We are just taking a ten minute break”.
To this, Advocate Dushyant Dave replied that,“Even we go for a coffee break.”
Justice Chandrachud before proceeding with the case, share a past memory and said that,"You lawyers are lucky you can go on a coffee break but we cannot. In Bombay High Court in one of the court the aroma of tea and coffee wafts through the air and it was very difficult for us to resist.”
