Now advocates need not to worry if they forgot to take any photo identification such as Aadhar card, Driving License or Voter Identity Card (ID) while entering the airport and the terminals instead they can use their valid advocates ID issued by the Bar Council of India and states (BCI) as a valid ID proof for entry in terminal buildings along with valid tickets.

After witnessing a complaint from an Advocate who requested authority to consider the ID issued by the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) as a govt. ID proof, the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) on Dec 5 accepted that the Advocate’s Photo ID Card as valid proof of identification for Domestic Travel through airports in India.

CISF said in a reply, “It is informed that an instruction has been issued to all Chief Airport Security Officers of all the airports under CISF security cover to accept the photo ID card issued by the Bar Council as a valid ID proof for entry in terminal buildings along with valid tickets as per Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) guidelines."

Gupta said, “Advocates being the officers of court and members of the statutory bar councils as established in states under Advocates Act are being identified outside the courts while not wearing official gown and band only through the photo ID card issued and if it is not acceptable for domestic travel at airports for security purposes, then I made to assume that real danger is lurking around and within courts where this class of noble professionals practices. CISF has done it’s part although Delhi Police Headquarters still do not rely upon the Advocates Card for entry purposes which is questionable."

The CISF further said that in order to keep the airport services more rigid they are also introducing new techniques with bar codes in the Airports at the checking points to avoid forgery of documents.
