January 05, 2019:

On Friday, in a swift move, the Central Govt. has informed an Andhra Pradesh HC that it asked the the NIA to investigate the attack on YSR Congress Party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Reddy was stabbed with a surgical blade at the high security Visakhapatnam Airport in Andhra Pradesh in October last year.

After the attack, the Andhra Pradesh Govt. constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the attack & murder conspiracy of the opposition leader and found that it carried out for publicity and not with the intention to kill Reddy.

Police also seized two knives from the accused Srinivas Rao, who was working as a waiter at the airport and arrested immediately.

The opposition party of the state and alleged the ruling party for hatched the conspiracy to kill Reddy, knocking the door of Center and the President to seek an investigation by a central agency.

On Dec 31, the Ministry of Home Affairs passed an order asking the anti-terror agency to register an FIR and investigate the case, which took place at a place administered by the Central Govt.

On Jan 1, Hyderabad unit of the NIA registered the case and have started investigating the case.
