July 16, 2018:

Till last week, mosquito breeding was found positive in more than 47,000 homes by the domestic breeding checkers of the three corporations. Approximately 23,000 cases have been found in South, 13,000 in North and 11,000 in East Corporation areas.

If there is a pool of stagnant water or possible mosquito breeding sites in your house or property, get it cleared immediately or get ready for an FIR against you.

South Delhi Municipal Corporation, for the first time, has registered FIRs against 3 people in Greater Kailash for negligence as Mosquito breeding was found at their Construction sites.

Leader of South Corporation, Kamaljeet Sehrawat stated that Civic body has finished its intensive awareness campaign and now stringent penalties will be imposed on violators.

He further added that,“Three FIRs have been lodged in GK. All these cases were of big construction sites flouting norms and leading to large-scale mosquito breeding. We will impose penalties up to Rs 50,000 and FIRs will also be lodged with the Delhi Police in case of violation by repeated offenders, construction sites and commercial properties. By being negligent in letting the mosquito breeding happen on their property, people also put other peoples’ lives in danger”.

Senior Corporation Officials stated that,“These are the first such instances of the civic body registering police complaints in cases of mosquito breeding and it indicates the seriousness of the matter in this season which sees a peak in vector-borne diseases”.

Complaints have been lodged in GK 1 and CR Park police station by Deputy Health Officer of South Zone.

“We have issued 22,500 legal notices and recovered over Rs 3.7 lakh from penalties. In 2,360 cases, prosecution was also done. This campaign will only intensify now that the rains have arrived,” added South Corporation Mayor Narender Chawla.
