Senior Advocate Gopal Subramanium has written to the Supreme Court seeking permission to quit as Amicus Curiae in the case pertaining to Padmanabha Swamy Temple Treasure.

According to a TV Reporter, Mr. Subramanium wrote to the Court on November 25 expressing his inclination to quit citing personal reasons.

This is the second time Mr. Subramanium is seeking permission to recuse himself from the case.

More than four years ago, on August 2014, Subramanium had made a similar request after controversy surrounding his elevation to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court at that time requested him to reconsider his decision and he had relented and continued as an Amicus.

Last November, he had also withdrawn as an Amicus Curiae in the matter concerning the Jagannath Puri temple.
