The Central Government of India has assented for the appointment of two Additional Judges for the Gauhati High Court.
The notification issued by the Law Ministry notifies that “In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint (i) Smt. Justice Susmita Phukan Khaund and (ii) Smt. Justice Mitali Thakuria, Additional Judges of the ' Gauhati High Court, to be Judges of that High Court with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.”
