The Europe Court of Justice declaed that the decision does not constitute direct discrimination.

On Tuesday, the European Union’s top court ruled that Employers may bar staff from wearing visible religious symbols, in its 1st decision on issue of women wearing Islamic headscarves at work.

On the eve of Dutch election in which Muslim immigration has been a important issue across Europe, the Court of Justice (ECJ) gave a joined judgment in the cases of 2 women, in Belgium and France, who were dismissed for refusing to remove their headscarves.

The Court said in a statement that an rule of an undertaking which prohibits visible wearing of any philosophical, political or religious sign doesn't constitute any direct discrimination.
