March 03,2019:

Chanda Kochhar, former MD & CEO of ICICI Bank, has reached the Enforcement Directorate office in Mumbai along with her husband Deepak Kochhar for questioning on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday has been questioning Chanda Kochhar, Venugopal Dhoot & Deepak Kochhar in connection with the so-called conflict of interest in the loan extended to Videocon Group. The case is related to a loan given by ICICI Bank to Videocon when Chanda Kochhar was heading it, & the business ties between Venugopal Dhoot & her husband.

Mr Dhoot allegedly invested Rs. 64 crore in NuPower Renewables, a company founded by Ms Kochhar's husband, a day after Videocon group was granted a loan of Rs. 200 crore by ICICI Bank.

It was part of a Rs. 40,000-crore loan which Videocon got from a consortium of 20 banks led by State Bank of India. The Rs. 3,250 crore loan has become a non-performing asset for ICICI Bank.

The CBI is currently examining evidence collected during searches at the homes & offices of the three accused right after a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against them last month.

Today morning, Chanda Kochhar, former MD & CEO of ICICI Bank, reached the Enforcement Directorate office in Mumbai along with her husband Deepak Kochhar for questioning. “Former ICICI Bank MD & CEO Chanda Kochhar & Deepak Kochhar have reached Enforcement Directorate's (ED) Mumbai office for questioning,” news agency ANI said in a tweet on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

Earlier yesterday, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Chanda Kochhar, Videocon Chief Venugopal Dhoot for questioning with regard to the quid-pro-quo in the loan extended to Videocon Group during the tenure of Chanda Kochhar.

Following the questioning with Chanda Kochhar in the alleged case of conflict of interest, Videocon Chief Venugopal Dhoot has the ED Mumbai office for questioning. "Videocon's Venugopal Dhoot has reached Enforcement Directorate office for questioning in ICICI Bank-Videocon loan case. Earlier today, ED questioned former ICICI Bank MD & CEO Chanda Kochhar, while her husband is currently being questioned by ED," ANI said in a separate tweet.
