November 20, 2018:
On Tuesday, in another case of serious lapse in security in the national capital, a man threw chilli powder at Arvind Kejriwal inside the Delhi secretariat.
The man, Anil Kumar, has been detained, by Delhi Police personnel. The attacker entered the secretariat around 1 pm & was waiting in a room near the CM's office.
As soon as CM Kejriwal left his office, he threw the chilli power at him.
The attack took place outside the chief minister's chamber on the third floor when he was leaving for lunch.
AAP called it a 'dangerous attack' and described it as a serious security lapse from Delhi Police.
AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a press conference, "Even the CM is not safe in Delhi. The man crossed all security barriers and even scanners did not detect the chilli powder. How can any random person walk into the Secretariat and attack the chief minister. Kejriwal has faced many such attacks on a regular basis. This is a serious security lapse."
He added, "BJP's Central Govt has created an atmosphere where anti-social elements are being instigated & promoted to attack CM Kejriwal. Attackers know they will get all protection from Central Govt."
The message from the Central Govt & the Delhi Police is clear - Anyone can attack the Delhi CM, The attackers will be protected by police and no action will be taken, said Saurabh Bharadwaj.
