On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to dust storm in various parts of north India on May 2.

Prime Minister has also approved Rs. 50,000 each for those seriously injured due to storm.

On Saturday, Two days after an intense dust storm killed over 50 people and injured nearly 60 in Uttar Pradesh's Agra, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each for the kin of dead.

UP CM Adityanath added that,"We are giving all possible help, we have providing Rs 4 lakh compensation for the deceased and all the injured are being provided free treatment in hospitals."

Yogi Adityanath stated around 8000 people have been rescued and the power supply that was disrupted will be restored at the earliest.

Adityanath rushed back from Karnataka last night, cutting short his election tour amid facing flak from Opposition for staying away from his own state even after a storm claimed 73 lives there.

Union Home Ministry has stated that,"Altogether, 124 people have been killed and 300 injured in five states due to thunderstorms, lightning and dust storm in the last two days".

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav had criticised Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath. He tweeted, "CM should immediately return to UP leaving aside campaigning in Karnataka... If he doesn't rush back even under such circumstances, then he should form his own mutt there (in Karnataka) for all times," Yadav tweeted.
