January 31,2018:

On Wednesday, Supreme Court stated that it was “very much concerned” over health of the 8-month-old infant who was raped by her 28-year-old cousin in New Delhi.

SC Bench has ordered Delhi State Legal Services Authority to assist in the case and has directed that two doctors from AIIMS would supervise entire case and thereafter take a decision to whether to shift her to AIIMS or what could be the best possible step for the child.

Baby was found by her mother, who returned home from work, lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to a local hospital, where she underwent a three-hour surgery to repair the tears in her private parts at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital.

According to the Doctor, Surgery was performed on Tuesday morning and the patient is currently in ICU and out of danger. Her condition is stable.

Delhi Commission for Women Chief Swati Maliwal visited the girl at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital yesterday. She also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the baby.

Accused has been arrested . He has confessed to raping the baby on Sunday under the influence of alcohol.

According to Police, "Suraj has confessed to his crime. The family used to leave the baby at home with cousins and other family members while going for work. A case has been registered against Suraj under the provisions of POSCO".
