Introduction of the Legal Stalwart

The name of my legal stalwart is S.C. Chaturvedi ji. He has been practicing the law for around 16 years. He practices both civil and criminal laws. He has well knowledge and great experience of law that he handles the cases beautifully and works to the satisfaction of the clients. He mainly practices in the Tis Hazari Court.Q1.  Are you a first-generation lawyer?

Ans. Yes, I am a first generation lawyer.

Q2. When did you decide to pursue the law as a profession?

Ans. I decided to pursue the law as profession when I was pursuing graduation.

Q3. How did you gravitate toward the profession of litigation?

Ans. My father was in railway and he had told me about the importance of the law. He was the one who sowed the seeds in me of being an advocate as the advocates are respected everywhere. The main thing is that my parents wanted to make me an advocate as I have two brothers, one is business-man while the other one is a doctor so they supported me for that.

Q4. How was your experience in the law school and what is the importance of the academic score?

Ans. My experience was well. I used to study and like every other student I wanted to secure good marks. But as far as the importance of score is concerned it is important for the competitive exams only as a minimum of 60% is required for that but it cannot be considered to be a proof of being more knowledgeable because scoring better cannot guarantee you a success in your career.

Q5. How was your experience when you completed the law and came to face the practical world?

Ans.  The college life is completely different from the practical life. The college life was easy I had to just study and I had no extra work to do. But after completing the law, I really had the hard time initially as I realized what the real hard-work is. I had to manage the time not only for continuous studies but also for the practice of the law. Thus, the life gets much more difficult after being graduated.

Q6. Would you like to share any experience of your first case in the Court?

Ans. Yes, of course. I still remember that when I filed my first case for the recovery of the loan amount it was dismissed by the judge. I got confused and shocked to see that. I asked my senior associates in the chamber who advised me to file a fresh case for that. Thereafter, I filed it with different cause of action and then it was accepted.

Q7. What according to you are the areas where legal system in our country need to improve?

Ans. Implementation is the most important thing where the legal system needs to be improved as the law is great but what is the benefit of such sort of law that lacks implementation. In India, the legislations are made in accordance with the needs and requirements of the people but the work to the very ground level is not done to fulfill the required objective of the law practically.

Q8. What are the skills that a lawyer should be having to have a successful career in law?

Ans. A lawyer should have skills to do comprehension reading and should also have drafting skills, good research skill, adequate knowledge of law etc.

Q9. What is your future plans now onwards?

Ans. I want to be an Advocate on record so my future plan is to clear the A.O.R Exam.

Q10. What is your advice for young legal professionals?

Ans. Just have conceptual clarity of the law so that when you enter the practical world you are capable of understanding what is going on around and how are the provisions of the law are being applied practically.
