June 16, 2018:

Cyberbullying or online bullying has increased at an alarming rate all over the world. Bullying is not only restricted to the adults, it has also found its way to the children, who are on the social media platforms.

From an inappropriate comment online to using the cyber tools like the photoshoped images, fake videos, people are being constantly tormented on the social media.

Cybersmile Foundation on June 17, 2012 took an initiative against it and launched Stop Cyberbullying Day to counter oppressive online behaviour.

Stop Cyberbullying Day is held annually every third Friday in June.

Stop Cyberbullying Day is an internationally recognised day of awareness and the activities both on and offline to encourage the people around the world to show their commitment toward a truly inclusive and diverse online environment for all without fear of the personal threats, harassment or abuse.

Cyberbullying is seen as a menace to Society but should not hamper growth of an individual fearing that there is no recourse from this situation.

An individual should keep a communication channel open with family and the advisors about potential cyber dangers.

Measures should be taken to notice a victim of cyberbullying and encourage them to talk about their online experience and, in particular, anything that makes them feel uncomfortable or threatened.

To avoid online harassment, people should refrain from sharing excess information online like your address, phone number. A lot of online bullying starts with people exploiting each others personal information.

On Stop Cyberbullying Day, netizens should make a pledge to become aware of laws and regulations against the Cyber-Bullying and actively participate in urging the people to speak out against it and digital abuse of any kind and defend our human rights to freedom of speech and expression while adhering to basic principle of mutual respect for the others.
