February 14,2019:

Many major Hollywood studios including Amazon and Netflix had filed a lawsuit against Dragon Media Inc, branding it a supplier of pirate streaming devices.

Dragon Media is being accused because of Dragon Box, which is their media streaming box. Dragon Media uses the open-source Kodi media player with pirate add-ons to facilitate Copyright infringement via its Dragon Box device. The lawsuit was filed in January of last year.

After the Copyright infringement allegations, Dragon Box halted its sales and changed from a Kodi-addon platform to a subscription-based service BlendTV.

But BlendTV was also the victim of infringement charges which prompted them to halt their sales again. In December 2018, the company returned with another service called ‘My TV Hub’, but according to the Hollywood studios, this service was not legitimate either.

Under the flag of ACE (The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment), the ACE members requested a preliminary injunction to permanently halt the infringing activities by the company, but a few days ago Dragon Box’s attorney notified the court that they have agreed to settle the lawsuit.

Attorney Matthew J. Faust wrote, “Defendants respectfully notify the Court that the parties have agreed in principle to settle the above-entitled case.” The terms of the settlement are not yet made public, but as a result of the settlement, the company would have to stop all infringing activities. As of now, their website is still online but the boxes themselves are no longer listed for sale.
