July 13, 2018:

Maharashtra Government has stated that,"People can now take outside food inside cinema halls, theaters, and multiplexes in the State".

A policy will be formulated soon by State government on the action which is to be taken against the errant halls/multiplexes.

Minister stated that same food item cannot come with different price tags at theatre and outside.

On Friday ANI tweeted that,“People would be allowed to carry food items along with them in cinema halls and in multiplexes in Maharashtra. State Government to formulate policy on what action is to be taken against halls/multiplexes which don’t comply”.

As per reports, the decision was announced by Maharashtra Food Supplies Minister Ravindra Chavan on Friday, while making the statement on motion tabled by Maharashtra NCP Legislative Council (Upper House) Leader of Opposition (LOP) Dhananjay Munde, during the ongoing Assembly Session.

Earlier this month, Bombay HC had refused to grant an urgent hearing to Multiplexes Owners Association which had approached it over the recent attacks on multiplexes by the members of a political party.

HC Bench comprising of Justice Ranjit More and Justice Anuja Prabhudessai refused to issue any directions on the issue and said the aggrieved parties were free to approach the police in case of any incident of violence against them.
