Reason given is that they “resembled foreigners” and were trying to pass off as Indians for cheaper entry tickets.

Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) on Monday has ordered an inquiry into a incident wherein a group of students from Manipur were allegedly stopped from entering Taj Mahal by the CISF personnel, who demanded that they should produce proof of their nationality.

Students were however later allowed entry following the intervention of the Local Police, after which they lodged written complaint with ASI Officials alleging the discrimination.

According to the Complaint, students who were from Central Agricultural University,Imphal had gone to visit the Taj Mahal as part of an All-India Educational Tour. When they were barred from entering the grounds as they resembled foreigners and were trying of pass as Indians for cheaper tickets.
