Cashless-Digital transactions not safe: Cyber Bandits arrested for hacking payment gateways and stealing Rs. One Crore

Mastermind a B.Tech dropout student was caught staying in a 5 Star Hotel.

Now, ‘Digital shoplifting’ has got added to growing list of the cyber crimes in city after a group of tech students and dropouts repeatedly hacked the gifting website and stole e-vouchers worth nearly Rs 1 crore by altering site’s payment gateways.

A South Delhi-based website, Gyftr.com, approached the Police on December 30 and FIR was lodged at Hauz Khas.

After the investigations which lasted for about 25 days, the cops arrested a hacker and three of his friends for the crime.

The mastermind, Sunny Nehra, a BTech dropout from Sonipat, was found to be staying at the Leela Ambience, Gurugram.

Police described that the mastermind is an expert in vulnerability testing of the E-commerce websites.

According to Ishawar Singh, DCP South,”These crooks hacked into payment gateway used by website and manipulated details including  the source codes to execute their con job”.

Complainant had provided the voluminous data on crime procured from the various e-merchant firms.

These revealed that the e-vouchers which were digitally shoplifted belonged to the companies such as Make My Trip, Amazon, Flipkart, Big Bazar, Reliance Digital, Myntra.com, Yatra.com and other online shopping firms.
