The Government Law College, Mumbai in association with The Chamber of Tax Consultants are pleased to announce the Third Edition of the Dr. Y.P. Trivedi National Tax Moot Court Competition, 2019.

In light of celebrating its 90th Anniversary, the Chamber had introduced the Dr. Y. P. Trivedi Tax Moot Court Competition in 2017 with the support of Dr. Y. P. Trivedi, Senior Advocate and the Government Law College, Mumbai. This year marks the Third Edition of Dr. Y. P. Trivedi National Tax Moot Court Competition.

The Chamber of Tax Consultants (CTC) Mumbai is a non-profit organization established in the year 1926. The organization was formed to serve the object of educating and creating

Format of the Moot

Maximum of 24 teams shall participate (of which maximum of 15 teams from outside Mumbai will be accommodated) and the registrations shall be accepted on first come first basis.

The Oral Rounds of the competition are scheduled to be held during the period 29th & 30th March 2019.

The said Rounds shall be judged by members of the tax fraternity, Hon’ble Members of the ITAT and the Hon’ble Judges of the High Court. There shall be prizes for the Winning Team, 1st Runner up Team, Best Speaker and 1st Runner up Speaker.


All students of any recognized law colleges of the country can participate. Each team shall comprise of three students- two speakers and one researcher

About the Moot Problem

This year, the Moot Proposition shall be a combination of Income Tax Act, 1961 and the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, 1988.

Moot Schedule

  • Opening of registration: 1st March, 2019
  • Last date for registration for the competition: 15th March, 2019
  • Last date of submission of Memorials: 29th March, 2019 (only hard copies will be accepted)
  • Reporting date for participants: 29th March, 2019 at 9.00 a.m. at Government Law College
  • Oral Rounds: 29th and 30th March, 2019


Registration fees for each team shall be Rs. 4,500/- (Inclusive of GST)

Accommodation shall be provided for two nights i.e. 28th & 29th March 2019 and only to teams representing Colleges from outside Mumbai

Payment Details

Payment is to be made in the favour of “The Chamber of Tax Consultants” via Demand Draft. Please note that teams must send the Hard Copy of the Demand Draft by 20th March 2019, and must email the Soft Copy of the Demand Draft to taxmootglc@gmail.com by 15th March 2019, latest.


Please note that the last date for registration of the competition is 15th March 2019 and must be done through an email to taxmootglc@gmail.com.
