Tired of working all alone with your thesis? Need a second (maybe third!) set of eyes to look at your material? Stuck on that one paragraph for a month now? Cannot find your argument? You need Draft-a-Thon!
The Centre for Writing Studies, O. P. Jindal Global University invites applications from 10 mid to late stage PhD Scholars, from universities around Delhi-NCR, for a 3-day residential workshop focusing on the craft of thesis writing from Nov 30-Dec 2, 2018.
Graduate seminars will usually invite researchers to discuss their material in the context of their disciplinary debates. However much less attention is paid to the act of writing itself, especially at the thesis writing stage.
Learning how to make an argument, to substantiate that argument with evidence, and to write in narrative flow are some of the key components of academic research. This Draft-a-Thon is aimed at at filling these gaps to assist Ph.D scholars in reworking and rethinking parts of their thesis chapters.
Each day, the selected participants will be expected to attend skill-based workshop sessions, one-one feedback sessions with designated faculty mentors and guided writing sessions. Participants will also be introduced to techniques of peer review.
Towards end of the workshop, participants would have successfully reworked some parts of their Ph.D chapter and would have acquired the skill-set to continue the process independently.
Applicants are requested to send a draft chapter (10000-15000 words) from their ongoing Ph.D thesis which requires major reworking, a 250 word abstract on their thesis and a one-page CV to cwsphdworkshop@gmail.com by Oct 30, 2018.
Selected participants will be informed by Nov 15, 2018.
