Malayalam Actress Priya Prakash Varrier, who’s wink and a mischievous smile in a 28-second clip from a film song has turned the 18-year-old into an Internet sensation has been alleged for hurting muslim sentiments by a group of Muslim youth from Hyderabad on Wednesday, who have registered a complaint at Falaknuma Police Station against the actor and makers of ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ a song from her forthcoming Malayalam film debut “Oru Adaar Love”.
According the Police Officials, a complaint from a few men that viral song’s lyrics is hurting sentiments of Muslims has been received. They have not submitted a video proof and we have asked them to provide us with the same. No FIR has been registered as yet.
Group has reportedly asked Asaduddin Owaisi, Chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), to intervene in the matter.
Priya has, in her own words, has become a “national trend” on social media. Song was launched online on February 09. It garnered almost 10,000,000 views on YouTube till Tuesday evening. She registered on Twitter only earlier this month and has already garnered a following of 60,000. On Instagram, she has got 2.5 million followers and got a blue tick. She also has a verified official Facebook page. Priya belongs to Thrissur in Kerala.
